During a recent convention appearance, WWE Hall of Famer Arn Anderson expressed his deep concerns about today’s high-risk wrestling style while speaking with Denise Salcedo. In this interview, the Four Horsemen legend admitted he’s “terrified” watching some moves nowadays, specifically noting backward suplexes, where performers can’t fully protect themselves. Anderson fears frequent injuries will lead to a long “casualty list,” urging talents to dial back extremes for longevity.
67-year-old Anderson debuted in 1982 and rose to prominence in the NWA/WCW, thanks to forming iconic partnerships with Ole Anderson, Tully Blanchard, and others. A four-time WCW TV Champion, he also held multiple tag titles. However, neck and back injuries forced him into early retirement at 38 in 1997. And while he would work a couple of tag matches afterward, including teaming with David Flair on an episode of WCW Thunder, his physical involvement was extremely limited in those bouts, and he decided to focus on backstage roles.
