Orange Cassidy vs. John Silver was initially set to take place on the AEW’s Full Gear Buy-In show, but the decision was made to promote it to the main show. With that meaning, AEW needed a new match for the pre-show, Tony Khan has announced on Twitter that Allysin Kay will make her debut for the company challenging newly crowed NWA Women’s Champion Serena Deeb.
It was only yesterday that Kay made her own Twitter announcement where she revealed her deal with Billy Corgan’s NWA had expired, and she was officially a free agent. It isn’t believed that Kay has signed a contract with Tony Khan’s company, but AEW will often bring talent in to evaluate them before making them an offer, so this may be Kay’s tryout match.
If Kay were to sign with AEW, she would bring 12 years of experience with her, with her most high profile run being in TNA as Sienna. She would twice be a TNA/Impact Knockouts Champion and one-time GFW Women’s Champion during that run. She has also made two appearances for WWE in 2018, firstly as part of the second Mae Young Classic tournament, and then in a six-women tag match.
