Former WWE star Alberto Del Río has launched LM52, a bold new lucha libre promotion in Mexico. Partnering with Dr. Wagner Jr., the name is a nod to Mexico’s +52 country code, with the inaugural event set for May 7, 2026. Talent so far on board for the first show includes Chessman, Hijo de Dos Caras, Texano Jr., and Silver King Jr, with a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery in place to broadcast shows on Space and Discovery en Español.
48-year-old Del Rio, real name José Alberto Rodríguez Chucuan, hails from lucha libre royalty as the son of Dos Caras and nephew of Mil Máscaras. He debuted in 2000 as Dos Caras Jr. in AAA, then competed in Japan and CMLL from 2005, where he was pushed as a s big star. And while he departed the promotion to work for WWE and then TNA memorably, he is now back in Mexico working as Alberto El Patrón, having become persona non grata in the US.
