AJ Styles has demonstrated his non-wavering loyalty to WWE during a live event in Tampa, Florida, by refusing to sign a fan’s AEW belt. The veteran wrestler was signing autographs for fans as he left the ring, but once he saw the replica, he would ask if the camera was filming him, and after getting confirmation it was, he said, “Nick, Matt, I love ya. Can’t sign this, though.” This was in reference to The Young Bucks, with whom Styles is close, having worked with them in Ring of Honor and New Japan.
48-year-old AJ Styles debuted in 1998 on the independent circuit before becoming a foundational star in TNA between 2002 and 2013, where he achieved Grand Slam status with multiple X Division, Tag Team, and World Heavyweight Championships. Subsequently, he gained international acclaim in NJPW as a two-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion and Bullet Club leader.
Debuting in WWE at the 2016 Royal Rumble, Styles has since become a two-time WWE Champion, three-time United States Champion, and Intercontinental Champion, while delivering acclaimed matches against John Cena, Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, and Cody Rhodes. However, the beloved performer has confirmed that his retirement will take place in 2026, as he wants to prioritize family and step away from the ring before a notable physical decline sets in.
