During this week’s episode of Dynamite, many fans took to social media to ask why Shelton Benjamin appeared to be crying ahead of his match with Jon Moxley. While some were mocking the former WWE star, others were concerned about possible emotional distress and were enquiring out of concern. And now Benjamin has taken to X to clarify the situation, noting it wasn’t actually tears dripping down his face, but simply water from pouring water on his head as part of his pre-match rituals.
50-year-old Benjamin, a collegiate All-American wrestler, debuted in WWE in 2002 with Team Angle, winning multiple tag titles with Charlie Haas. Subsequently, he held the Intercontinental Championship three times and the U.S. Championship before departing the company. Then, after stints in ROH, NJPW, and Noah, he returned to WWE and formed the Hurt Business stable. And while he was released in 2023, he signed with AEW in 2024, where he reformed the group under the Hurt Syndicate name with MVP and Bobby Lashley.
