In a deeply emotional video posted on May 1, 2026, AEW wrestler Rebel revealed her devastating terminal ALS diagnosis. The former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader shared that the progressive neurodegenerative disease was discovered during evaluations for her unrelated lung issues. Rebel would also express profound gratitude to Tony Khan and AEW for their unwavering support throughout her multi-year medical battle. With limited research and no definitive timeline, she asked fans to keep her in their prayers as she faces the difficult road ahead.

While I was waiting to have lung surgery for the masses on my lungs, the doctors at Mayo found, finally found, what’s going on. The doctors have diagnosed me with terminal ALS. There is not a lot of research behind ALS, and we don’t know how long I have, but it explains why I have trouble walking and talking, and all my functions will soon decline. But now we can prepare for the future and what is to come. And I wanna say thank you to Tony Khan and AEW for supporting me on this medical journey. It has been a blessing that is unheard of. And from the bottom of my heart, thank you. And thank you to all of you for your prayers. Please continue to pray for a peaceful journey and a peaceful passing. I love you.– Rebel

Her announcement comes just over a year after the wrestling world mourned the loss of Steve “Mongo” McMichael, the Chicago Bears Hall of Famer and WCW Four Horsemen legend, who passed away on April 23, 2025, at the age of 67 following a brave fight with ALS. Diagnosed in 2021, the charismatic star confronted the disease with his signature toughness, and after his passing, his friends and former colleagues from both pro wrestling and football would flood social media with heartfelt tributes.
