AEW Veteran Shares Devastating Injury Update

Earlier this year, Brian Cage suffered an injury during an independent match with Chris Masters, which required him to undergo knee surgery. Still, when it was discovered that the AEW wrestler had returned to the gym within just weeks, it was hoped he would return to the ring sooner rather than later. Yet, it now appears Cage may be back to square one, as he has disclosed on Instagram that he unfortunately needs another operation.

“There is an issue on the operation I had on my right knee. I was fighting an uphill battle that no amount of therapy, modalities, stem cells, peptides, etc we’re going to fix. I have to go back under the knife for them to try to fix or correct the situation. Being upset and depressed upon hearing this news is beyond an understatement.”Brian Cage

Cage debuted for AEW by winning the Casino Ladder Match at Double or Nothing in 2020 and immediately looked set to be one of the promotion’s top stars. Yet, subsequently, he would end up having a lengthy spell on the sidelines, which made it seem inevitable that he would exit the company once his deal expired. However, this wouldn’t happen, as Tony Khan used his option to extend his contract and, up until this injury, had been utilizing him for both AEW and its sister promotion, ROH, with the 41-year-old currently part of the Don Callis Family.
