AEW Rampage Match Was Canceled After Former WWE Talent Refused To Lose

In surprising news, Dave Meltzer has reported in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that a recent Rampage match was scrapped after one of the competitors refused to put over the other. According to the report, former WWE 24/7 Champion Metalik outright refused to lose to Komander. Why he did this is unclear, but it should be noted that he had previously put over his fellow luchador on a match taped for Ring of Honor.

“The reason the 10/20 Rampage show had only three matches instead of four is because Komander vs. Metalik was booked for the show and then pulled when Metalik refused to put Komander over, Metalik still worked Collision a few days later but that can’t have helped his standing here.”

35-year-old Metalik is best known for his time in WWE, where he wrestled under the ring name Gran Metalik as part of Lucha House Party. He would perform for the company between 2016 and 2021, departing after he requested his release due to a lack of opportunities. Subsequently, he has worked for GCW, NJPW Strong, Impact Wrestling, CMLL, AEW, and their sister promotion ROH.
