AEW Applies To Lock Down New Trademark Following Forbidden Door PPV

AEW has filed a trademark application for “Death’s Door,” the revolutionary rounded steel-cage concept first proposed by Co-Executive Producer Mike Mansury. Tony Khan reportedly loved the idea immediately and debuted it at Forbidden Door 2026 during a high-stakes 12-man tag team match. The fact that AEW has now taken legal steps to secure the name signals that Khan plans to use the unique cage concept on future shows, a move expected to be very popular with fans.

In the inaugural Death’s Door match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2026, Team Mark Briscoe defeated Team MJF in a brutal 25-minute, weapon-filled war inside the circular steel cage. The hard-hitting no-DQ clash featured thumbtacks, explosive bags, tables, skateboards, and a breathtaking Coffin Drop from Darby Allin. Ultimately, Briscoe would score the pinfall victory for his team, earning himself a future AEW World Title shot against MJF.
