When Shaquille O’Neal agreed on a multi-year deal with WarnerMedia, he teased working with AEW by stating, “I’d love to fight Cody. Write it. Print it. Text it to him. Call AEW up and tell them.” It now seems we are edging closer to a match between the pair as AEW has announced that Shaq will appear on this week’s episode of Dynamite.

AEW began building towards Shaq’s appearance when a debuting Jade Cargill entered the ring unannounced as Cody was cutting a promo on the November 11, 2020 edition of AEW Dynamite. She’d deride Cody for referring to himself as a giant killer and said she knew a real-giant, implying Shaq. This ended in a confrontation between Cargill and Cody’s wife, Brandi. While nothing is official, the speculation is this is leading to a match between Cody and Shaq at Revolution on February 27, 2021. However, a mixed tag involving Brandi and Cargill could also be a possibility.
Shaq’s love of pro wrestling is well-known, and he has appeared over the years for WCW, TNA, and WWE. His most memorable moment being a participant in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32. He was also very close to wrestling Big Show at WrestleMania 33, but it fell apart due to either scheduling or monetary issues, depending on who you believe.
