CM Punk alienated many of his WWE colleagues during his run there; however, it appeared he’d turned over a new leaf in AEW. That was, though, until he went into business for himself, calling out Adam Page and The Young Bucks and getting into a backstage brawl with The Elite. Therefore many assume it’s just a matter of when he returns to WWE, yet it appears he won’t be welcomed back but everyone. That is because Seth Rollins while being interviewed by Wrestling Inc, called him a “cancer” and a “jerk.”
Oh, Philly. Phil. Stay away. Stay away, you cancer. Get away from me forever. Yeah. No, I don’t like Phil. I don’t like Phil. He’s a jerk. Oh, did we just figure that out? Do we just figure that out? Everybody in the room like it’s like, oh, no. Did he say that? Yeah. No, he’s a jerk. Come on. We figured it out over there. We knew it over here. I don’t want him back. Go do something else. Bye bye. Bye bye. See you later.
Seth RollinsWhile it’s possible Rollins was talking in character, it certainly isn’t surprising if this is his genuine opinion. However, ultimately over the years, as in the cases with people like Shawn Michaels, The Ultimate Warrior, and Randy Orton, backstage popularity became secondary to the ability to draw money. So while it’s doubtful Punk will be welcomed with open arms, he is expected to get an offer if and when AEW grants him his release.
