Cameron Grimes Reveals How A WWE Executive Lied To Him

On Tuesday, Cameron Gries took to X to announce that he had just been released by WWE, having spent five years with the company. In some ways, this was a surprise as he had gotten over in NXT, although in other ways, it wasn’t since he wasn’t being used much on the main roster. And now the former NXT North American Champion has revealed on Busted Open that he was concerned for his future just last week and sought reassurance from a WWE executive, who subsequently told him he would always have a job with the company.

“So I was told by a high executive last week on Friday that I would always have a job here. I would never have to worry about losing my job here, after expressing my concerns like that to him. And then, five days later, they called me and told me that I do lose the job.”

30-year-old Grimes made a name for himself as Trevor Lee on the indies before joining TNA in 2015. There, he would become a three-time X Division Champion. However, he had bigger ambitions and signed with WWE in early 2019. Then, within three months, he was repackaged as Cameron Grimes and became regularly featured on NXT television. Still, his proper big break would come when he was repackaged in 2021 as the Richest Man in NXT, with it claimed he capitalized on the GameStop stock rise.
