Vince McMahon’s XFL Suspends Operations And Lays Off All Employees

In March, the XFL suspended the league for the rest of the regular season due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now it’s been confirmed that following an internal call with COO Jeffery Pollock, employees were told the league was suspending operations, and they were all being laid off. It isn’t known if this is the end of the league for good, but ESPN says sources have told them there are no plans to return in 2021.

The league was doing decent ratings within expectations initially, but they were decreasing week on week, and it’s believed economic uncertainties have resulted in Vince McMahon making this decision. McMahon himself sold approximately $300 million in WWE stock to fund the league.
