WWE has a long history of using hard rock and metal songs for their premium live events. The company has used tunes by Motorhead, Code Orange, Limp Bizkit, Danko Jones and Metallica, among several others.
WWE will host its first ever PLE in Germany on Aug. 31 called “Bash In Berlin” with a card featuring the likes of CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, Cody Rhodes, Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley. The company has also announced that they’re using the song “RATATATA” by German party metal band Electric Callboy as the theme for the upcoming show in Germany. The song also features Japanese kawaii metal band Babymetal. “Excited to have @BABYMETAL_JAPAN blasting through @WWE speakers again,” wrote Triple H via social media. “They’ve joined forces with Germany’s own @ElectricCallboy for “RATATATA”, an official theme song of #WWEBash in Berlin.”
WWE’s Damian Priest talked with Metal Hammer earlier in the year about WWE’s connection with heavy metal. “I feel like they go hand-in-hand,” he argued. “I mean, you see a wrestling show, you see a sea of black t-shirts, you go to a metal show, you see a sea of black t-shirts, you know? It’s one of those things that’s the same kind of character or personality. It’s something that, to your point, wrestling and metal aren’t normal. It’s not the norm. Our fanbases are so passionate. I’m a fan of sports and movies and all types of stuff, but when it comes to both those industries, the passion for a fan to be so immersed in it, I think is a special feeling, and you can’t compare it to anything else.”
