WWE Hall of Famer The Honky Tonk Man is one of pro wrestling’s most famous characters and at one time was the longest-reigning Intercontentical Champion at a time when the title was very meaningful. And now, having not wrestled since 2019, it has been announced via a press release that the 72-year-old has inked a new WWE Legends contract, the third one he has signed.
The Honky Tonk Man, the real name Roy Wayne Farris broke into the business in 1977, and after wrestling in territories including Stampede Wrestling, Jim Crockett Promotions, World Wrestling Council, and the American Wrestling Association, he would join Vince McMahon’s WWF. This would see his career skyrocket, with his Elvis impersonator gimmick being a massive hit with fans who loved to hate him. And while he was never known for his in-ring work, thanks to his character and ability to get heat, he became one of the biggest stars of the ’80s.
