WWE Commentator Released

WWE Commentator Released

In unfortunate but not unexpected news, PWInsider.com has reported that WWE has released commentator Kevin Patrick. This follows confirmation earlier this week from various sources that Patrick had been removed from his position of calling SmackDown alongside Corey Graves after last week’s episode. At present, it has yet to be revealed who will take his spot long-term, although it’s believed in the short term, Michael Cole will fill in on Friday.

Patrick, real name Kevin Egan, moved from Ireland to America in 2009 to follow his dream of being a sports broadcaster. Subsequently, he worked for both CNN and Apple TV before joining WWE in 2021, initially as a backstage correspondent before being promoted to a commentary role. Whether he now departs the world of pro wrestling altogether remains to be seen, although considering he has also calls soccer matches, that could be where his future lies.
