WWE Cashing In On “Yeet” Trademark Situation

WWE Cashing In On “Yeet” Trademark Situation

Two weeks ago on Raw, Jey Uso’s “Yeet” t-shirt was noticeably blurred during a video package, and subsequently, WWE stopped selling the popular design online. It would soon be revealed that the company hadn’t done its due diligence, as indie wrestler Kasey Huffman had previously trademarked the word for pro wrestling purposes. However, it seems Huffman received a nice payday, as last week the word returned to WWE television screens, and now cashing in on the situation themselves, WWE is selling a blurred version of the shirt.

“Yeet” first became known to wrestling fans during The Bloodline storyline but really took off as a catchphrase in its own right when Jey used it during Fastlane’s post-show press conference while enjoying some alcoholic beverages. Therefore, many fans were disgruntled when it appeared the second-generation star could no longer use it, and some initially even thought those who had already purchased merchandise featuring the word had a future collector’s item.
