WWE Begins Hyping Brian Pillman Jr.’s NXT Debut (w/Video)

Three months ago, Brian Pillman Jr. was spotted training at the WWE Performance Center following the expiration of his AEW contract, with it subsequently reported he had signed with the company. And now, during this week’s episode of NXT, WWE has begun teasing his debut by airing a vignette featuring a man watching an old-style television showing a clip of the Cincinnati Bengals and then footage from WCW Saturday Night. Which is obviously a nod to his father, the late Brian Pillman.

30-year-old Pillman Jr. began training at Lance Storm’s wrestling school in 2017. This would open the door for him to work for MLW, whose contracts at the time also permitted their talents to work for AEW simultaneously. And it would be as part of AEW where he achieved most of his career fame up to this point as part of the Varsity Blondes alongside Griff Garrison. However, prior to his AEW departure, he was most frequently working as a singles competitor or teaming with Arn Anderson’s son, Brock Anderson.
