WWE & Austin Theory Accused of Trademark Infringement by Indie Tag Team

Independent wrestlers Vik Dalishus and Hale Collins have been going by the tag team name The Now since 2006, and now they’re calling out WWE and Austin Theory for stealing their name. Apparently, they’ve sent two cease and desist letters to WWE; however, the company hasn’t backed off, and according to an interview they’ve given to Hudson Valley Post, the next step will be a lawsuit due to “trademark infringement and creating confusion in the marketplace.

It does seem the duo has a legitimate claim, and on November 15th last year, they applied to trademark the name, so given that and prior usage, it seems Dalishus and Collins will win. Yet, how much they receive is certainly up for debate and will likely ensure any hopes the duo ever had of working for WWE in any capacity goes unachieved.
