Back in January, Seth Rollins suffered both a grade 2 MCL tear and a partially torn meniscus, which sidelined him for almost two months. Still, he would return in time for the build-up to WrestleMania XL and was one of the show’s most influential performers, wrestling twice and featuring in night 2’s main event in an attempt to help Cody Rhodes finish his story.
However, it has now been disclosed by his wife, Becky Lynch, during an interview with RTE in Ireland that he underwent surgery this past Tuesday. No timeline for his return was given, although it now seems likely he’ll be out for at least six months.
Four months ago, it was revealed that 37-year-old Rollins’ WWE contract was set to expire in July, and it was claimed at the time that no negotiations had taken place over a new deal. Yet it seems incredibly doubtful that management will willingly let Rollins explore free agency with it known Tony Khan is willing to offer former WWE stars huge money to jump. Therefore, it’s likely a new deal will be agreed upon in the coming months, with it believed both Rollins and Lynch are very happy together in WWE.
