Will Ospreay Explains Why He Chose To Sign With All Elite Wrestling

Tony Khan promised on Wednesday that “one of the world’s best wrestlers” would be signing for AEW at Full Gear. Subsequently, he would deliver on this when it was announced that Will Ospreay was All Elite. However, the current New Japan star would reveal he wouldn’t be starting with the company until next year when he has fulfilled his commitments to the Japanese promotion commitment. And now, at the post-show media scrum, he has discussed his reasoning for joining AEW over his other options, including WWE.

“I feel like I’m at my best over here. I’ve enjoyed every time I’ve come over here, and right now, this is just the best decision for me and my family. I’m not interrupting my kids’ school, my Mrs. can see her parents, like, this is, I get to be one of the best pro wrestlers to have ever done it, and I get to do it on weekly TV, and I get to test myself in these waters.”

The 30-year-old made his in-ring debut back in 2012 as the masked character Dark Britannico. He then became a fixture on the British independent circuit, working for promotions like Progress Wrestling and Rev Pro. His big break came in 2016 when, following the recommendation of AJ Styles, Kazuchika Okada, and Hiroshi Tanahashi, he joined New Japan, where he has been a regular ever since. During this time, he has also wrestled for Ring of Honor, AEW, and, most recently, Impact Wrestling, making himself a big name in the process.
