When Drew McIntyre Will Be A Free Agent Has Been Reported

It’s been known for some time that Drew McIntyre’s WWE contract is going to expire this year, although considering his status in the company, it was assumed by most he would re-sign. And while he still could, it has now been reported by PWInsiderElite.com that the two-time WWE Champion will officially be a free agent shortly after WrestleMania 40 in April, having not yet agreed on a new deal.

“Drew McIntyre still hasn’t signed a new contract w/WWE. If a new deal isn’t reached, McIntyre would be free & clear to sign anywhere right after WrestleMania 40.”

38-year-old McIntyre rose to prominence as “The Chosen One” in WWE and looked set to be a massive star during his first run with the company. However, that wouldn’t happen, and he was released in 2014. Still, he wouldn’t give up on his WWE dream, and after reinventing himself on the independent circuit and in TNA, he returned to the company in 2017 to immediately be pushed as a top star in NXT. This would lead to another main roster callup in 2018 and ultimately headlining WrestleMania 36 against Brock Lesnar.
