In one of the more odd stories to come out of the rock world, last week the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner was shot by police and booked on charges of attempted murder. The incident happened when police were trying to locate hit-and-run suspects in a residential neighborhood. Police encountered Shriner’s wife, Jillian Lauren, with a handgun. They ordered her to drop the weapon, and when she didn’t and later allegedly pointed her gun at authorities, cops shot her in the shoulder. She was arrested a short time later.

Weezer was set for an appearance at Coachella this weekend, and Shriner responded to a New York Post reporter asking about his wife. “She’s alright, thank you for asking,” Shriner said, not giving any further details. He then added, “See you at Coachella,” showing he won’t be changing gig plans despite the odd situation.

Police said they confiscated a nine-millimeter handgun from Lauren’s home after the arrest. She was booked and released after posting $1 million bond according to LA County jail records. She was not tied to the original hit-and-run incident that brought police to her neighborhood.
