Vice To Air Vince McMahon Documentary & Update On Netflix Docuseries

In what appears to have been hurriedly put together in the wake of Vince McMahon’s hush money scandal, it has been confirmed that Vice is releasing a documentary on the shamed wrestling promoter. Not much information is currently known, however, both Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez are known to have been interviewed, and producers did reach out to talent who worked with McMahon over the years. It should be noted that while Vice is best known to wrestling fans for the Dark Side of the ring series, the team behind that show is not involved. With Ian Fried, himself an indie wrestler who goes by the name Orion Dove producing this.

It’s also recently been verified that the Netflix docuseries on McMahon, which was rumored to have been canceled in the wake of the scandal, is still planned. With four episodes set to air in the future, yet, with it initially thought to focus on McMahon’s return to the ring at WrestleMania 38, it isn’t known if the hush money story and subsequent retirement will be covered. The series is being produced by Chris Smith, who directed Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened, about the ill-fated Fyre Festival of 2017. Additionally on board are Bill Simmons, who is behind ESPN’s 30 For 30 series, and the acclaimed André the Giant documentary for HBO, so it has the potential to be excellent. Although given Simmons is a known WWE fan, how impartial it will remain to be seen.
