Update On Thunder Rosa’s Return To The Ring

Thunder Rosa has been out of action with a severe back injury that forced her to vacate the AEW Women’s Championship since August 2022. And subsequent, reports of her return have been less than optimistic, with surgery frequently spoken about. Now, though in positive news, Fightful Select has reported it, the 37-year-old is nearing a return and could feature again for AEW “any time.”

“Fightful Select has been told that Thunder Rosa could return to the ring at almost “any time,” provided creative is produced for her. Rosa had spoken to some at this past weekend’s Starrcast, and sources within AEW indicated that she is ready to return. Whether or not she does imminently remains to be seen.”

Mexican-born Rosa broke into the wrestling business in 2014 and soon became a regular on the Californian independent circuit. Her big break would come when she joined Lucha Underground in 2015 as Kobra Moon, and she spent four years wrestling for the promotion. Following this, she would briefly work for Ring of Honor before joining Billy Corgan’s NWA in 2019. Here, she found significant success by winning the NWA World Women’s Championship and thus attracted the attention of AEW, who bought her out of her contract in 2021 following a working relationship between the two promotions.
