After Ted DiBiase Jr.’s defense attorney in Mississippi’s major welfare fraud scandal fell ill, a mistrial was requested, with it argued that retaining alternative counsel would violate his Sixth Amendment right to chosen counsel. However, the Mississippi Clarion Ledger has now reported that Judge Carlton W. Reeves denied the request, but pushed back the trial until February 23rd, 2026. If convicted, DiBiase Jr. could face decades in prison, having been accused of misusing millions in aid meant for needy families through bogus contracts.
42-year-old DiBiase Jr., the son of WWE Hall of Famer “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, broke into the wrestling business in 2006 after training at Harley Race’s Wrestling Academy. Joining WWE in 2007, he initially competed in FCW before debuting on Raw in 2008 as part of The Legacy stable with Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton. Post-Legacy, he held the Million Dollar Championship and led the fan-interactive “DiBiase Posse” gimmick, but injuries and falling down the card led to his 2013 WWE exit, after which he retired in 2020.
