Popular WWE Hall of Famer and former SmackDown head writer Road Dogg was strongly expected to join TNA in a key behind-the-scenes creative role after visiting Slammiversary. Yet, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, discussions have completely stalled. The two sides are currently nowhere near a deal, leaving his anticipated arrival with TNA very much up in the air.

Tommy Dreamer left TNA Wrestling in mid-June 2026 as part of a broader workforce reduction designed to streamline operations and improve profitability. The longtime veteran, who contributed in both creative and talent relations, parted ways following talks with TNA president Carlos Silva. In a subsequent appearance on Busted Open Radio, he stressed that he harbored no ill will toward the company. His exit, which came just before the Slammiversary event, immediately led many to suspect Road Dogg would be his replacement. Still, it appears TNA is in no rush to replace the ECW original.
