Penelope Ford, a familiar face in AEW since the company launched, has yet to compete for the promotion since 2022. And while it is known she sadly suffered a miscarriage last year, most fans had expected her to have returned by now. Therefore, her AEW employment status has recently been questioned, and now, via a Q&A session, Fightful Select‘s Sean Ross Sapp has confirmed that the 31-year-old remains under contract. However, it was noted that it’s currently a per-appearance deal, and she is simply not being utilized at present.
“She’s still with AEW. I believe she’s now on a per-appearance deal now. She had an injury as well. She just hasn’t been used.”
Sean Ross SappPenelope Ford, real name Olivia Hasler, broke into the business through CZW in 2014, having been trained by DJ Hyde and Drew Gulak. During this time, she began dating fellow wrestler Joey Janela, and the duo collectively signed with AEW in 2019, appearing together despite having separated the year prior. From there, she would meet Kip Sabian, and the pair would memorably marry during the February 3, 2021, episode of AEW Dynamite, with it confirmed at the time it was legitimate, despite most fans suspecting it was just a pro wrestling angle at the time.
