On Thursday, legendary commentator Jim Ross took to X.com to share the worrying news that he was struggling to breathe and was heading to the emergency room. Subsequently, he disclosed he had been hospitalized, which obviously left fans very concerned. However, on a positive note, Dave Meltzer has now reported in the latest issue of his Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the WWE Hall of Famer is expected to be fine in a few days. Although it was unfortunately confirmed that Ross would miss AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view, which takes place on Sunday.

“Jim Ross, 72, was hospitalized on 5/23 at his other home in Norman, OK, due to shortness of breath. He said that he won’t be able to go to Las Vegas this weekend for Double or Nothing, which was his next announcing gig as right now he’s only doing PPV shows. He said that he has a Class A flu and raised heart enzymes to go along with breathing issues but was getting excellent care and expects to be fine in a few days.”

72-year-old Ross has regrettably been dealing with multiple health issues in recent years, with his two cancer diagnoses being the most alarming. Additionally, it’s known he had to undergo eye surgery and was recently attending a rehab facility, having broken his right hip, which left him walking cane. Yet despite this adversity, Ross still clearly loves being involved in the wrestling business, having previously gone as far as to say that Tony Khan saved his life by hiring him after his wife Jan tragically died in 2017.
