Update On Jake Hager’s AEW Contract Status

Update On Jake Hager’s AEW Contract Status

It appears that AEW has strategically timed several of their contracts to conclude around the end of May. As following the news that both Mark Henry and Arn Anderson are leaving the company, it has now been reported by Bodyslam.net that Jake Hager has recently departed. According to the article, the decision was mutual, and as Hager hasn’t wrestled for AEW since February when he faced Roderick Strong, it’s doubtful this news will come as a huge surprise to fans.

“Sources have confirmed to Bodyslam.net that AEW Star Jake Hager’s contract has also recently expired and that he did not re-sign with All Elite Wrestling making him a free agent. It was also noted to me that the decision was believed to be mutual.”

42-year-old Hager found fame in WWE as Jack Swagger and had been with AEW since the inaugural episode of Dynamite. And while always presented as a star, he hasn’t competed in an AEW ring as often as many expected, with the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion having simultaneously pursued a career with Bellator. However, he did announce last year that he was retiring from MMA to concentrate on pro wrestling.
