Update On Carlito’s WWE Status Following His Backlash Appearance

Carlito made his first WWE appearance in over two years at this year’s Backlash premium live event taking place in Puerto Rico. He would make the save for Bad Bunny once Judgement Day got involved in his match with Damian Priest, and since then, fans have been wondering what the future holds for him.

And now a report by Fightful Select has confirmed WWE was pleased with how his return tuned out, with his maturity being noted. However, it is believed it was simply a one-off appearance for now.

WWE sources were very happy with was the return of Carlito. Several backstage spoke about how much Carlito had matured since his WWE run, and said that the reaction from the crowd was “even better than expected.” There have been numerous pitches over the last couple of years to bring Carlito in for runs or even full-time. Fightful has been told that as of this weekend, Carlito’s appearance with WWE was a one-off, but that could always change.

The former Intercontinental, United States, and Tag Team Champion has yet to work fulltime for a major promotion since departing WWE back in 2010. Instead, he worked for his father’s promotion in Puerto Rico and wrestled on independent shows. His return received a lot of buzz online, and fans were happy to see him, so if a promotion can come to an agreement with him, they’ll likely see an initial spike in attention.
