Update On Bandido’s AEW Contract Status

On last week’s episode of Dynamite, Bandido, whose legal name isn’t public record due to his being masked, wrestled Chris Jericho in a match for the ROH World Championship. With the 27-year-old blowing fans away with his look, speed, strength, and in-ring charisma, resulting in many fans clamoring on social media for AEW to sign him full-time. Subsequently, it was reported that AEW was well aware of how outstanding his performance was, as they offered him a contract later that night, likely realizing his appearance would garner WWE’s attention. And now it has been reported by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio that the luchador signed the contract, making him officially All Elite.

I’m surprised they didn’t put that out because they need good news, right? But, yeah, he signed a full-time deal after that match that he had with Jericho.

The luchador began wrestling alongside his cousin as a tag team performer in 2011. Still, it was as a singles performer that people started to take note of his potential, especially once he embraced a Wild West bandit gimmick. Eventually, he began wrestling in the US, and WWE offered him a developmental contract, which he somewhat surprisingly rejected due to the salary offered. So instead, he would sign for ROH as one of their highest-paid full-time performers, win the ROH World Championship, and be part of the World Six-Man Tag Team Champions with Flamita and Rey Horus prior to Tony Khan taking over the company.
