Surprising Name Was On AEW’s Disciplinary Committee That Decided To Fire CM Punk

AEW and CM Punk seemed like a match made him heaven when the WWE star debuted for the company back in 2021. Yet, after two backstage altercations with fellow talents, his time with the promotion would end on a sour note, with a disciplinary committee deciding to terminate his employment. Previously, it was unclear who was on this panel; however, Fightful Select has now revealed it was made up of AEW General Counsel Chris Peck, an outside attorney, and, somewhat surprisingly, Bryan Danielson.

“Recently, Fightful revealed that a long-rumored member of the committee, Megha Parekh, had actually stepped back from a lot of her duties as Chief Legal Officer by that time and actually had nothing to do with the committee. We’ve since learned that AEW General Counsel Chris Peck, who assumed many of her responsibilities, was a part of the three-person committee, along with an outside attorney. However, there was also one long-respected member of the AEW talent roster that was involved, in Bryan Danielson.”

On Monday, the BBC asked AEW head honcho Tony Khan about his former champion’s return to WWE at Survivor Series. Unfortunately, Khan could not share his thoughts due to legal restrictions presumably stemming from the firing. Still, Khan is likely disappointed at how things turned out, especially considering he gave Punk a path back into the wrestling business and ultimately lost one of his biggest stars to his competition.
