Trey Miguel Addresses Being Fired By AEW & Almost Quitting Wrestling

Trey Miguel has revealed in an emotional Instagram post that he nearly quit professional wrestling after his abrupt AEW release, triggered by resurfaced  Facebook comments. The 31-year-old stated the experience left him heartbroken and feeling “wrestling hated me.” However, he credited his faith and loved ones for pulling him back from the brink, reaffirming his childhood dream-driven passion. Additionally, he would express his deep gratitude to TNA for swiftly welcoming him back.

Trey Miguel
"I came very close to quitting. My heart was broken.. I felt like wrestling hated me to be quite honest. I hadn’t felt a hurt or a loss like that in a very long time. I didn’t answer calls or texts and I spent a little over a week contemplating what’s next. I felt like my dream died as quickly as it was realized. But it’s in moments like this that god will show you how strong you actually are ... Words can’t describe how eternally grateful I am for @tnawrestling for saving this dream for me."[/su_quote]

Trey Miguel’s brief AEW stint ended before he made his in-ring debut due to past appalling Facebook comments resurfacing. The belief is that, as with Jay Briscoe not being permitted on television, the decision came directly from Warner Bros. Discovery executives, leaving Tony Khan unable to intervene. Still, while this likely cost Miguel a lot of money, he quickly rebounded by rejoining TNA and winning a Feast or Fired briefcase on the January 22, 2026, episode of Impact.
