The ’80s Cruise recently embarked on a 7-day roundtrip from Miami, and the themed-excursion features a variety of artists including Bret Michaels, Billy Ocean, Taylor Dayne, Glass Tiger, Quiet Riot and more. ’80s rockers Faster Pussycat are also aboard the ship, but the fiancé of singer Taime Downe reportedly met a tragic end after going overboard. TMZ reports that body of Kimberly Burch is still missing.
The site also reported that she fell to her death shortly after a heated argument with Downe aboard the ship. Burch’s mother told TMZ that her daughter had been drinking on the cruise, which she isn’t normally accustomed to. “Our crew immediately launched a search and rescue effort, is working with local authorities, and we are providing support and assistance to the guest’s family during this difficult time,” a Royal Caribbean Group spokesperson told TMZ. “To respect the privacy of our guest’s family, we have no additional details to share.”
A Reddit user SkySeaSnow reported: “Multiple reports on social media from passengers on Explorer of the Seas were posted online. The incident happened around 11 p.m. on the first day of the sailing. Day 1 of the 80s cruise, all going well, then we hear ‘Oscar Oscar Oscar’ overhead. And sure enough, the ship is turning around to search. Officer just came over the PA to announce the details.”
