Since the launch of AEW, fans have been clamoring for a video game, and while it has seemingly taken a long time, that is because the game was being created from scratch. Finally, though, four months ago, it was revealed that the game would be titled AEW: Fight Forever, and it appeared production was ramping up as Tony Khan began encouraging fans to chant following television tapings. Among the chants recorded were “FTR,” “Dax,” and “Cash,” however, Fightful Select has now reported that neither Dax Harwood nor Cash Wheeler will feature in the game, which is very unexpected.
Sources connected to the game that we heard from wouldn’t confirm how far into the game FTR were still included, but Fightful first gained word earlier this summer. It was stated that they at least made it to the “model phase” of the game, however. We’re told that FTR were informed of the call, and weren’t too happy about it, as being involved in video games usually also comes with a significant bonus. We’re told that they were originally set to be included in the game, but by Spring of 2022, had been removed.
Why the duo has been omitted isn’t known, although obviously, speculation will now commence regarding their long-term future with AEW. And while this is disappointing to fans if the pair aren’t going to be with the company when the game is released in the first quarter of 2023, their spots should go to other talents. Especially considering the high five-figure sums often paid to those who appear in wrestling games. Of course, it’s possible that AEW, THQ Nordic, and Yukes could be planning on offering DLC in the future. So FTR could still feature that way if whatever issue preventing their inclusion is sorted out.
