Tool is offering VIP ticket holders of their upcoming shows the chance to purchase a new vinyl version of their 2019 album, “Fear Inoculum.” The retail version is expected to arrive in April. “There’s some late breaking news from the band,” Tool said in a statement. “Having just received their personal allotment of the forthcoming (TBA) FEAR INOCULUM ULTRA DELUXE LP, they were inspired to offer for sale this very limited number of advance pressings to TOOLARMY VIP PACKAGE holders (taking advantage of their early merch access) beginning with tonight’s show in Philadelphia and extending to the remaining shows in Elmont, Newark, Buffalo, Pittsburgh and so forth, or until there are no more available (prior to the worldwide release that’s projected for sometime in April).

“Furthermore, these early vinyl arrivals (only a tour item for the time being) have been AUTOGRAPHED, adding a personal touch to the cover imagery. The package contains 5 discs of industry best 180g vinyl, with audio tracks on one side and etched art on the reverse of each side of the disc. Though the quantities are very limited, should there be any remaining copies, they will be made available to concert goers at the general merch booth.”

While the release is certainly special for Tool fans, the $810 price tag has even some diehard fans doing a double take at the sticker price. However, Tool has historically gone above and beyond in how they have presented their physical releases over the years. The band posted an unboxing video along with its Instagram post. Despite the hefty price tag, one fan posted that the box set had already been re-sold on eBay for $2,000.

Tool is currently on tour with The Acid Helps through March 30. Their tour continues in Europe starting in late April with Brass Against. “Fear Inoculum” marked the band’s first album in 13 years due to creative and personal issues within the band. The song, “7empest,” earned the group a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.
