Last month, AEW President Tony Khan licensed the use of the iconic Guns ’N’ Roses track “November Rain” for a video promo surrounding the “Full Gear” pay-per-view. “Thanks to @gunsnroses, AEW has secured a license to use November Rain in our videos promoting #AEWFullGear + this AEW November to Remember!” he wrote at the time via social media.
Khan made a recent appearance on “The Five Star Podcast” and said that the company’s collaborations with Guns N’ Roses are likely going to continue in the future. “I’ve had talks, this is the first time I’ve ever said it out loud so exclusive stuff right here, about maybe doing even more collaborating with Guns N’ Roses in AEW on licensing,” Khan said.
Khan previously highlighted the company’s process in licensing so many well-known tracks for their programming. “We work with a lot of the top musicians and licensing and publishing companies to get the top music in AEW,” he told Fightful via WGN Radio. “Moments in wrestling are so important. You’re so right, and we’ve been able to create a lot of magic moments, in part because of the great music that we’ve been fortunate to license.”
He continued: “In some cases, we’ve used songs wrestlers previously used illegally, like ‘The Final Countdown.’ Bryan Danielson had entered to that song before AEW, but the band, Europe, was never compensated. Now, they are, and we’ve created lasting memories using that music. Another example is Orange Cassidy. I initially wanted to use ‘Where Is My Mind’ by Pixies, but we also licensed ‘Jane’ by Jefferson Starship, which he had used in the past but never legally. We were happy to compensate the artists and make it official.”
