Last week news broke that one-half of AEW’s tag team champions, Cash Wheeler, had been arrested in July. Initially, information was scarce, but subsequent details came out that make it sound like he was involved in a road rage incident where he allegedly pulled a gun on another driver. And now AEW’s head-honcho Tony Khan has commented on the arrest during All In’s media call, acknowledging he still doesn’t know everything about the incident and is monitoring the situation before acting.
“I can’t comment on the specifics at this time because I still don’t know everything, I’m still learning facts, but based on the information we have at this time, we’re still keeping an eye on that situation, and at this time I think it’s a very inconclusive situation. It differs from other times, where we’ve come in and weighed in on a situation or acted on a situation based on the evidence, because in this case and everything we’re looking at, I don’t think we have those facts right now.”
Tony KhanWhen it became known Wheeler had been arrested, fans would fear that FTR’s All In match with The Young Bucks would be canceled due to the event taking place in the United Kingdom. However, it has since been confirmed Wheeler’s passport was not confiscated, and no travel reactions were placed on him, so the match can still take place. Although whether FTR comes out of the contest still holding tag team gold seems highly unlikely given Wheeler’s uncertain future.
