Tony Khan Comments On AEW Wrestlers Being Unhappy With Their Lack Of Television Time

Ever since Tony Khan began signing former WWE talents, there were rumors of unrest, with AEW originals feeling they were missing out on precious television time. And over time, this has grown to where there has been speculation on talents wanting out of their deals. Now though, Khan has commented on this while being interviewed by Grapsody and compared their situation to that of real sports where teams have backups, noting they don’t complain. However, he doesn’t seem to be letting it get him down, as he says he understands and takes it with a smile.

On other sports teams, you don’t really see it as much. It’s not really common in the NFL for the backup quarterback to blame the coach because he’s not playing. It’s not really common in the NBA for the backup point guard to blame the coach because he’s not getting minutes. I take it and I take it with a smile and I’ll keep taking it with a smile. It’s okay. I understand. Everybody wants to wrestle and everybody wants to do things and everybody is coming from a different perspective. So I don’t want to compare one person’s situation to another because it’s apples and oranges, but we have a lot of great wrestlers here and when they’re here and when we can get everybody involved, I love that.

Most recently, the name mentioned regarding this has been Miro, with fans wondering why such a talented performer has only wrestled four times in 2022. However, when further details came out, it was revealed that Khan did have a storyline for Miro in mind. Still, he declined the opportunity because he ultimately had to put his unknown opponent over. Clearly, showing Khan doesn’t just have to balance placing talent on television but also featuring them in ways they are happy with and agree to.
