Toni Storm has enjoyed a second surge in popularity among wrestling fans with her “Timeless” Toni Storm persona. Last year, Storm transformed herself into a Golden Age of Hollywood starlet and won the AEW Women’s World Championship for a record third time at Full Gear. She also recently had a successful title defense against Deonna Purrazzo at Revolution, and her on-screen promos and matches have become a unique and popular part of AEW programming.
Storm appeared on a recent episode of Talk Is Jericho, and she did the entire interview in character. Her “Timeless” persona has drawn comparisons to actresses of the 1920s, ’30s and ’40s, notably Norma Shearer and Gloria Swanson.
Storm talked about her previous AEW run as a member of The Outcasts, and she shared what she thinks went wrong. “Yes, Saraya. Once a very good friend of mine, and Ruby Soho as well,” Storm said.
“We had been quite the trio. They have a problem with me, I can’t for the life of me remember why. I don’t know what their problem is. I think my suspicion is they got jealous of my flamboyance. My overall ambiance. My je ne sais quoi. I can’t help it if I am the creme de la menthe of this industry.”
Storm continued: “Naturally, people are going to get jealous. I’ve had it my whole career. Everyone has been jealous, jealous, jealous. What do I do? They will come back in their own time. One day, they will go, ‘You know what? Timeless Toni Storm is one we want to keep inside the tent spitting out, not outside the tent spitting in.’ It can be very dangerous. The door is open. If they wish to apologize, if they wish to come back and apologize to me, the door is always open,” she said.
Jericho said Storm was the Beyonce of the group, to which she hilariously deadpanned: “I don’t know who this Beyonce is, but he sounds fantastic.”
