Last night on NXT, Tommy Ciampa made his return to the show following the main event tag team title match. NXT Champion Adam Cole was on the stage when Ciampa came out, and the paired stared each other down.
Former champion Ciampa had been out of action since having career-threating neck fusion surgery in March, which caused him to relinquish the title that was expected to keep him out for upwards of a year.
It did seem obvious he was medically cleared, as it would have been unlikely WWE would have had Ciampa return to television if he was not ready. WWE confirmed it on their @WWENXT Twitter account.

The return to the ring of Ciampa is excellent news for WWE as NXT lost the first week’s rating battle to AEW Dynamite.
