This week’s episode of TNA Impact was live from Full Sail University in Orlando, so fans were more excited than usual. However, while being live means no spoilers, it is risky, as things can’t be fixed in post-production. Unfortunately, a perfect example of this occurred during Lei Ying Lee’s entrance, when newly signed ring announcer McKenzie Mitchell announced that the former WWE talent was from “Ching Chong, China.

However, while many fans would quickly take to social media to call this racist, it should be noted that Lee is actually from Chongqing, so it is far more likely to have been an embarrassing gaffe by Mitchell rather than her being intentionally disrespectful.

WWE released then-NXT backstage interviewer Mitchell from her contract in 2023 to the surprise of many due to the fact that she is the wife of commentator Vic Joseph. Subsequently, this would lead to speculation that the former Fox Sports West and Fan Girl Sports presenter didn’t have a future in the business after AEW failed to bring her in. Yet, having worked for TNA between 2016 and 2019, she would return to the company this past January at Genesis, with it announced a few weeks ago that she had signed a contract.
