The Reason Why WWE Falsely Advertised Brock Lesnar For WrestleMania Backlash Revealed

Brock Lesnar lost the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 38 last month, and while no official plans for him have been announced, it seemed likely he’d appear at WrestleMania Backlash due to him featuring on the event’s poster. However, Lesnar was subsequently removed from the show’s listing on WWE.com, and the event poster was changed to just feature Edge. Now it has been revealed in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE did this because they didn’t want to give away the result of Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania ahead of time. Seemingly thinking if it was known Lesnar wasn’t going to be at WWE’s next event, everyone would figure out the outcome of the unified championship match.

It is notable WWE had first advertised Brock Lesnar, even though he was never supposed to be on the show. The explanation was that if they didn’t advertise Lesnar, it would give people the clue that Lesnar wasn’t winning at Mania. Anyway, it’s direct false advertising.Wrestling Observer Newsletter

When Lesnar will return to WWE remains unknown, but it is thought he will wrestle at Money In The Bank in July, which takes place at the massive Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders. And considering the venue can hold 70,000 fans, WWE may want to hold Lesnar back for that show rather than diluting his significance by wrestling beforehand. Additionally, with this show being before SummerSlam, it will help set him up for a fresh featured match on the show, with it understood WWE considers his rivalry with Reigns over.
