The Reason Bandido Chose AEW Over WWE Revealed

On the 28th September episode of Dynamite, 27-year-old luchador Bandido wrestler Chris Jericho for the ROH World Championship on Dynamite in a top-class match. Then shortly after the match, it was reported AEW had already offered him a full-time deal, likely knowing that his appearance would catch WWE’s eye. Nevertheless, he held off signing that contract and did speak with WWE before ultimately opting to join AEW.

And it has now been reported by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the specific reason he chose to sign for Tony Khan over Triple H was due to not wanting to move to the US. Also, with it noted, he doesn’t want to spend time away from his child.

In the end, he realized he couldn’t sign with WWE because he’s got a child in Mexico and his significant other doesn’t want to move from Mexico and he doesn’t want to not see his child all the time.

Bandido, whose legal name isn’t known to the general public due to his masked appearance, was already well-known to WWE and had been offered a developmental deal in 2018. He would, though, choose to reject WWE that time because of their lowball offer, something few others would have done at the time. Instead, choosing to join Ring of Honor as one of their highest-paid wrestlers and later captured the ROH World Championship when the promotion was still owned by the Sinclair Broadcast Group.
