On January 31, 2026, during an episode of AEW Collision, Kazuchika Okada defended his AEW International Championship against Adam Priest, but the belt was noticly hidden inside a case. This was explained on commentary as Okada not feeling his opponent deserved to see the belt, which, while odd, at least made sense. However, Fightful Select reported that Okada’s bag was lost during his travels, leaving the belt missing and necessitating a cover story.
“Kazuchika Okada had the International Title covered up on AEW Collision. It was because his bag that had the title belt and his gear were lost.” – Fightful Select
Wrestling championship belts have a notorious history of being lost or stolen in real-life incidents. In 1965, Bruno Sammartino’s WWWF title was stolen from his car in Manhattan after a dinner post-Madison Square Garden match. More recently, Chris Jericho’s inaugural AEW World Championship vanished from his limo in Tallahassee in 2019, but was recovered roadside days later. And while diehard WWE fans would mock AEW over the situation, not long afterward, they had to eat their words when Gunther had his NXT UK belt stolen from a rental car in Chicago.
