Recently, news broke that Miro, better known to WWE fans as Rusev, had re-signed with his former employer after being spotted at their new headquarters. Therefore, when it became known that Randy Orton needed a new WrestleMania opponent, many thought the timing was perfect for the return of Rusev Day.
Yet, while Rusev wouldn’t appear at WrestleMania, he returned to WWE television during the following night’s episode of Raw, attacking Otis and Akira Tozawa. Deadline.com has subsequently reported that he signed a two-year deal, while also confirming that his wife, Lana, is under a Legends contract.
Rusev previously spent a decade under contract with WWE and held the WWE United States Championship three times during that time. Still, while he shared a ring with the likes of Roman Reigns, John Cena, and The Undertaker, he was released in 2020 due to budget cuts. This would, therefore, lead to him signing with AEW, although due to injuries and disagreements over creative, he would never get to fulfill his potential under Tony Khan.
