During the closing angle of Friday’s SmackDown, a fake Randy Orton wearing a hoodie to disguise himself attempted to attack John Cena, but failed and received an AA for his trouble before the real Orton entered the ring. Yet while this was an effective segment to build to their match at Backlash, many fans online were more interested in unmasking the fake Orton. And now thanks to eagle-eyed social media users it has been discovered due to his tattoos that it was NXT’s Shawn Spears.

44-year-old Spears previously had two runs in WWE before requesting his release from the company in 2019. He would subsequently debut for AEW at their inaugural pay-per-view event, Double or Nothing, as part of the pre-show Casino Battle Royale. Later, it would be confirmed that he had signed a full-time contract and would soon begin working a memorable program with close friend Cody Rhodes. However, his push would only last a short time, and he soon slipped down the pecking order as Tony Khan hired bigger-name talents to fill his roster.
