Never afraid to speak his mind, iconic guitarist Ted Nugent has made headlines in recent months, notably for his feelings on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and who is, and is not, part of the institution. “I’m angry that they’re dishonest and that they’re not paying respect to the Chuck Berrys and the Bo Diddleys and the Elvis Presleys and the Little Richards and the Jerry Lee Lewises of the world, because rock and roll means something, and ABBA and Grandmaster Flash ain’t it,” Nugent said earlier this summer.

He also took issue with Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider seemingly celebrating the fact that Nugent became sick with C*VID. “Dee Snider — a nice guy, I thought,” Nugent said. “But if you make fun of someone getting sick, you’re not a nice guy, Dee. What happened to you? We always got along. And then you celebrated my sickness. And you don’t know how rotten that is? Why don’t you know how rot… Dee, you’re not a rotten guy. Dee, if you have a problem with Ted Nugent, there’s only one person you should discuss that with: Ted Nugent. If I have a problem with Dee Snider, I’m addressing you, Dee; I would like to talk to you.”

Now the “Motor City Madman” is taking aim at another group of people — the obese. Nugent was asked by his “Nightly Nuge” co-host Keith Mark what he thought of an op-ed piece claiming most people are not fit to serve in the U.S. military. The article argued that only a small portion of people are fit to serve with many being overweight, on drugs or a convicted criminal.

“Hey, America, what the hell are you eating?” Nugent asked. “I’ve never seen so much blubber on the streets of this country since I was in the Prince Of Wales Island watching pods of whales surface. And if that’s offensive to some people, I’ll tell you what’s offensive to God: you destroying your sacred temple with toxic non-food with ingredients which you can’t pronounce in portions that would sink the Bismarck.”

“How braindead, how soulless does a human being have to be to put drugs, alcohol and tobacco into your sacred temple?” Nugent continued. “And if that’s offensive to some people, you’re offensive, because that’s insane behavior, it’s insane misbehavior, and you’re costing the rest of us a whole bunch of tax dollars to cover your fat, unhealthy, uncaring, selfish *ss. So those are the people that can’t qualify to fight for this country, because they’d rather grow blubber than to protect freedom. And if that’s offensive to some people, tough sh*t. Wake up and treat your gift from God with a little respect for a change. We need to be a nation of warriors, and right now we’re not. And that’s shameful.”
