After the box-office success of Halloween in 2018, the twelfth movie int he franchise was greenlit, and Halloween Kills was scheduled for release this October. Sadly today, we learned via a John Carpenter tweet that it had been postponed until October 15th, 2021, due to the pandemic.

If we release it in October of this year as planned, we have to face the reality that the film would be consumed in a compromised theatrical experience. After weighing our options, we have chosen to push the film’s theatrical release by one year. John Carpenter

Halloween Kills wrapped up filming last year and was set to pick up directly after 2018’s Halloween finishes, and this can be seen in below the teaser trailer that was released alongside the announcement.

The knock-on effect of delaying Halloween Kills means that the already planned next sequel Halloween Ends will now be released in 2022.
